This policy explains what personal information we collect through bigthundernuts.co.ke, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We follow the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya.

1. Who we are

The Big Thunder Mining Company Limited, trading as Big Thunder Nuts (“we”, “us”), sources macadamia nuts from Kenyan farms and processes them into kernel, oil, and by-products for export. We are the data controller for the information described here.

2. What we collect

Partnership and contact forms. If you fill in our “Partner with us” or contact form, we collect what you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number, company, and message.

Mailing list. If you subscribe, we collect your name and email address.

Chat. If you use the WhatsApp chat on the site, we receive what you type and any details you share.

Automatic data. Our hosting and analytics tools record technical data such as your IP address, browser, device, the pages you view, the site you came from, and your approximate location.

Photos, videos, and testimonials. The site features farmers, staff, and partners. We publish a person’s name, photo, or words only with their agreement.

We do not ask for sensitive personal data, and please don’t send any through the site.

3. How we use it

We use your information to:

  • reply to enquiries and partnership requests
  • send our newsletter, only if you subscribed
  • understand how the site is used so we can improve it
  • keep the site secure
  • meet our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Our basis for using it

We rely on your consent (for example, mailing list sign-up), the need to respond to your request or to take steps toward a business relationship, our legitimate interest in running and improving the site, and legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only with providers who help us run the site: our web host, the company that develops and maintains the site, our email or newsletter service, our chat service, and our analytics provider. They may use it only to serve us. We may also disclose information when the law or a court requires it.

Some providers are based outside Kenya, so your information may be processed in other countries. Where that happens, we take steps to make sure it is handled with appropriate safeguards.

6. Cookies and third-party content

If you appear in a testimonial, photo, or video on the site and want it changed or removed, tell us and we will act on it promptly.

10. Children

The site is not aimed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
