The Big Thunder Nuts is not just a macadamia company. We are building a business around finding more value in every part of the macadamia.
Since 2018, we have built a growing business around macadamia by-products, working with farmers, processors, industrial buyers, and international markets. Our work has included World Bank and Government of Kenya-supported programmes, and we are now looking to expand our processing capacity, grow our farmer network, and develop new uses for macadamia by-products.
We are seeking investment, grant funding and strategic partnerships to expand our processing capacity, reach more farmers and develop new products from macadamia by-products.
The Problem We Are Solving
Kenya is one of the world’s leading macadamia-producing countries, yet much of the value in the macadamia supply chain is still lost. Up to 40% of the harvest is lost at the farmgate, especially through undersized nuts and off-grade kernel that do not meet the requirements of traditional processors.
At The Big Thunder Nuts, we create markets for this lost value, turning overlooked parts of the macadamia into products for new markets.
Ways to partner with us
Impact Investment

Grant Funding
We are seeking grant support for initiatives focused on agriculture, farmer development, gender and youth inclusion, climate resilience and circular economy. These areas align with several of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including SDGs 1, 5, 12 and 13.
Off-Take Agreements
We supply macadamia kernel, oil and biomass to buyers in Kenya and international markets. We welcome discussions with buyers interested in long-term offtake agreements based on agreed volumes, specifications and quality requirements.
Research and Development
We welcome partnerships with academic institutions, Agri-tech companies and research organisations interested in developing new uses for macadamia by-products, improving processing and taking new products to market.
